Free #1st5pages Writing Workshop Opens Saturday, and we have Mentor News!

Our January workshop will open for submissions on Saturday, January 5th at noon, EST. In addition to our wonderful permanent mentors, we have Carlisle Webber of Fuse Literary as our agent mentor and Amy McNamara as our guest author mentor.

The workshop is designed to help writers struggling to find the right opening for their novel or for those looking to perfect the all important first five pages before submitting for publication. Why the first five pages? Because if these aren't perfect, no agent, editor, or reader will continue reading to find out how great the rest of your story really is! Click here to get the rules.

Also - we have some wonderful mentor news! We're thrilled to announce that the wonderful Katya de Becerra has joined #1st5pages as a permanent mentor! Katya wrote one of my favorite YA books of 2018 - WHAT THE WOODS KEEP, and is the author of OASIS, coming fall 2019 (YAY!)

Brenda Drake's ANALIESE RISING will be published on January 8! I was lucky enough to read an ARC of this and it is a wonderful YA fantasy - I highly recommend it!

And we are SO excited for the final installment of S.D. Grimm's Children of the Blood Moon trilogy, Black Blood, which releases January 29th!

As a big Ron Smith fan, I'm so excited for his new MG sci-fi, THE OWLS HAVE COME TO TAKE US AWAY, releasing February 19. I absolutely love the cover - and the title!!

I'm so excited for HONOR BOUND, the second book in the wonderful Honors Series Rachel Caine wrote with Ann Aguirre, also releasing on February 19. And WOLFHUNTER RIVER, the third book in the super suspenseful Stillhouse Lake series, comes out March 26, 2019.

Happy Reading, Writing, and Revising!
